Angie Szumlinski, RN-BC, RAC-CT, Dir. of Risk Management

Ms. Szumlinski is the Director of HealthCap RMS where she oversees the risk management, education and assessments of approximately 2,000 facilities across the country. A proven leader in the long term care industry, Ms. Szumlinski has a wealth of experience in the operational and clinical aspects of the industry, including experience as an Administrator, Director of Nursing, Corporate Quality Assurance Coordinator and as an independent consultant.

Manda Ayoub, NHA, Risk Manager

Ms. Ayoub has worked in various capacities in the long term care industry since 1991, including CENA, Staff Nurse, Infection Control Coordinator, In-service Director, Quality Assurance Nurse, Nursing Home Administrator, and Executive Director of Assisted Living. Ms. Ayoub works with HealthCap members to improve their survey outcomes, resulting in an average citation decrease of 70% over any twelve month period. She resides in Michigan.

 

 

 

 

 

Erica Holman, LNHA, LMSW, Risk Manager

Ms. Holman is Licensed Nursing Home Administrator with a master’s degree in clinical social work. Ms. Holman entered the healthcare arena working as a counselor in a psychiatric hospital and later trained as a psychotherapist with an interest in depression and anxiety. Ms. Holman began working in long term care as the Director of an Alzheimer unit in the early 1990s and became a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator in 1995. She worked for ten years as a consultant, helping facilities attain regulatory compliance. Ms. Holman is an expert in the development and implementation of quality assurance and behavior management programs, and has served as an Administrator in both stand-alone and multi-facility settings.

 

 

Tamala Jones, BSW, LNHA, Risk Manager

Ms. Jones started her career in long term care as a social worker in the late 1980’s and obtained her administrator’s license in 1997. She has over 20 years of operational experience at the facility and regional level in the following areas: skilled nursing care, rehabilitation, assisted living and continuing care retirement communities. Ms. Jones is a published author and national speaker in her areas of expertise.

 

 

 

 

 

Randy Kozeal, NHA, Risk Manager
Mr. Kozeal is a licensed nursing home administrator and has special expertise in the operations and services of rural and small urban providers. Mr. Kozeal has served as a Regional Administrator responsible for opening the assisted living, assisted living memory support and skilled nursing components of a nation-wide continuing care retirement community. Mr. Kozeal serves as the HIPAA Compliance Officer for HealthCap Risk Management and has participated in training programs sponsored by the American Health Information Management Association. He has also served as a regulatory consultant to continuing care retirement communities and as a Nursing Home Administrator, Interim Administrator, and Director of Education and Marketing in the state of Nebraska. Mr. Kozeal has been a featured speaker at various healthcare conferences throughout the Midwest and had the honor of being the featured speaker at the 2006 LeadingAge Annual Convention.
Donna Long, NHA, OTR/L, Risk Manager

Ms. Long has over 28 years experience in healthcare with an emphasis in long term care. She is a Licensed Nursing Home Administrator and a Registered Licensed Occupational Therapist, and is certified with the National Board for Certification in Occupational Therapy. Ms. Long has held positions as Chief of Occupational Therapy in an acute care hospital, Rehabilitation Program and Regional Manager for 22 skilled nursing facilities, Divestiture Team member focused in 8 states, Director of Operations in eight Florida Rehabilitation Departments, and an Administrator and Consultant to skilled nursing facilities with a nationally recognized company.

 

 

Laura Mislevy, MS, RD, Risk Manager
Ms. Mislevy is a specialist in nutrition services for clinical care and dietary operations. She has experience with long term care clinical and financial management, survey preparedness, and the implementation of quality assurance programming. She has published articles on the subjects of wellness and preventive health, and has presented clinical research at several state conferences. Ms. Mislevy holds a Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University in Medical Dietetics and a Master’s Degree from Ohio State University in Nutrition and Food Service Management.
Roxanne Osborne, RN, Risk Manager
Ms. Osborne has over 30 years of nursing experience in the long term care industry. She is experienced in clinical management, operations management, administration, and auditing and monitoring for compliance. She was a Director of Nurses for a skilled Medicare facility for 10 years, a Regional Clinical Service Coordinator for 11 years and a Divisional Medicare Specialist for 33 facilities in five states for two years. After receiving her Nursing Degree from Illinois Eastern Community Colleges (Olney Central College), Ms. Osborne completed and received her certification as an Instructor for the Certified Nursing Assistant program, and then completed another certification to include training and education for the care of residents with Alzheimer’s disease. Ms. Osborne was listed in the Strathmore’s Who’s Who 2003-2004 Edition for demonstrating exceptional leadership and achievement in her chosen field and profession.
Joy Schultz, NHA, Risk Manager
Ms. Schultz has 27 years of experience in long term care, including 15 years as an administrator. She has been active in promoting issues important to senior care providers. Ms. Schultz served on the Iowa Health Care Association (IHCA) Board of Directors and the Iowa Center for Assisted Living (ICAL) Board for several years. She was also the Southwest District President of IHCA and the District Director for ICAL and IHCA. Ms. Schultz served on the Quality Committee, serving two years as co-chair and working on the Quality First subcommittee, participating in a federal initiative for a commitment to putting quality first in all nursing homes. Ms Schultz spent several years on the Steering Team of IPDCC (Iowa Person Directed Care Coalition), working with DIA, DEA, ICA, IAHSA, and the states educational facilities, working to change the environment in healthcare facilities across the state.
Patti Sweet, RN, Risk Manager
Ms. Sweet has more than 15 years experience as an RN, primarily in long term care with a strong focus on risk assessment and management. Ms. Sweet successfully developed and implemented a risk management program for a continuing care retirement community, providing staff with proactive risk management strategies with proven outcomes.
Cynthia Tipton, NHA, RN, Risk Manager

Ms. Tipton is a Registered Nurse and a licensed nursing home administrator with over 30 years of experience in the long term care industry. She has held positions in facility management, corporate management, and risk management as an independent consultant to long term and acute healthcare providers. Ms. Tipton conducts educational seminars focused on senior care topics on a national basis, and consults with over a hundred facilities each year.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Cheryl S. Wilcox, RN, CLNC, RAC-CT, Risk Manager

Ms. Wilcox is a Registered Nurse with 23 years clinical experience in the long term care profession. During her successful career, Ms. Wilcox focused on quality improvement, risk management and corporate compliance issues. Ms. Wilcox is a Certified Legal Nurse Consultant who performs case reviews and acts as an expert defense witness on occasion. She is a member of the Connecticut Health Care Association’s Clinical Committee and is a faculty member for the association’s Nurse Leadership Course.

 

 

 

 

Lisa O'Neill, CALD, Program Coordinator
Lisa O’Neill is the program coordinator for HealthCap RMS. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and is a Certified Assisted Living Administrator (CALD). Ms. O’Neill is experienced in skilled nursing facilities, and has held positions as a Social Work designee, accounts payables/receptionist and unit secretary/medical records. She joined HealthCap in 2006.
