Hooray! Finally!

We have all read articles on the negative health effects of caffeine on our body, right? I, for one, have rationalized why caffeine is important to my quality of life, everything from preventing headaches, keeping me awake and tuned in, and of course because what isn’t to love about caffeine?

It doesn’t matter if you drink a delicious cup of freshly ground coffee or a Starbucks Chai Tea Latte with 5 pumps and no water, caffeine is caffeine! It has always been interesting to me that some people choose to not have “caffeine” but eat Hershey chocolate bars by the dozen. Again, caffeine is caffeine no matter where you get it.

The good news is that recent scientific studies have shown that coffee beans are considered “seeds” and seeds have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects. I of course picked the one statement I liked, but that said, caffeine consumption is not without risks especially in people with pre-existing conditions including cardiac, blood pressure, mental health and pregnancy. If you have pre-existing health conditions that could be affected by caffeine consumption or your physician has discouraged caffeine intake, you may need to continue to abstain. Otherwise, enjoy!

Stay well, stay informed. and stay tuned!
